A post about Artificial Grass (or turf!)
I thought it would be nice if I did a little post on artificial turf. I was just thinking about the new sports stadium the town put in at the high school across the street. All of the grass is fake and I was just wanted to learn about it. Artificial grass is man made grass made from synthetic materials. It can be used in sport stadiums but may be used for lawns occasionally. David Chaney created the fake turf and started become used widely in 1965. The surface is harder than regular ground so it has caused more injuries in the past. Current turf is made of fibers coated with silicon, rubber granules in between the “blades of grass” and a base. Artificial turf is used in soccer, field hockey and some others. This kind of “grass” is good for environments that can not support grass growth. The turf tends to be much hotter than regular grass when exposed to the sun.

Did you know that some “Astro Turf” is actually blue. To prove it watch a Boise State Game. Their stadium has blue “Astro Turf”.

If you have ever sat on astro turf, you can feel that it is more prickly than normal grass. Try on the high school football field. Very prickly.

Well…. That was quite… interesting? I honestly think I prefer normal grass. ” The surface is harder than regular ground so it has caused more injuries in the past.” That’s not terribly pleasant… ANYWAYS, good job on the post, it was really informative.
