The one who had a dream…
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged of their color but by the content of their character”. This is a quote that is part of a speech that will make history forever. The man who stated this… Martin Luther King Jr. This upcoming Monday on the 21st of January, is a day to remember Martin Luther King and all of his acts that made history. The 21st, on which we honor King, is near his birthdate. The reason that we honor him because he is one of the greatest historical figures in America. He won a Nobel Peace Prize for all of his efforts to end segregation, racial discrimination and any other violent acts. He also fought for African American Civil Rights which should be applauded. The point of this is to honor all that he has done for us and understand how America would have been much different and nothing more than that reason. If this national holiday was celebrated in school, it would be more effective. Most young children may not even think about the reason why they do not have school on that particular day. In school, the kids may have someone who at least reminds them why they should be celebrating and maybe do an activity on Martin Luther King.
